This class is for any interested jeweler or any craft person.

Using wire, pliers, a hammer and a steel block students will create a selection of sample clasps, jump rings, links and connections out of metal.

This class is for any interested jeweler or any craft person.

Using wire, pliers, a hammer and a steel block we will create a selection of sample clasps, jump rings, links and connections out of metal.

These samples can be used as inspiration for future projects or the perfect finishing tool for a that closure you were looking for to finish a necklace and/or bracelet. The simplest details can really add the right touch to your artwork.

Tools: Students are welcome to bring their own hand tools such as files, pliers, hammers and any non-ferrous scrap metal to use for each class.

Material/Kit fee: allow $5-$10 based on materials purchased from instructor.  Fee is due in cash to the instructor on the first day of class.

Non-Ferrous MetalsIn general practice, we group the softer metals and alloys as non-ferrous as many tools used are not designed for the harder (ferrous) metals. In metallurgy, non-ferrous metals are Copper, Silver, Gold, Tin, Zinc, Nickel, Aluminum, Titanium, Palladium, Niobium, Platinum, Lead. This also includes alloys that do not contain iron (ferrite) in appreciable amounts such as Brass, Bronze, Pewter, and more.
