Your Project – From Start To Finish

Plus a Material/kit fee payable in cash to the instructor on the second day of class.  This fee is determined by you in the first class (based on your project) and what you wish to be ordered by the Instructor.  Please read the FULL Description/Outline at the bottom of this page.

Requires a Minimum of 2 participants.

For the intermediate to advanced jewelry metalsmith – This 6 week course will walk you through the whole design process for your project from start to finish, strengthen your metalsmithing skills and help you problem solve in the studio.

Dates & Times: Tuesdays, Oct 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 2019, 6pm to 9pm

Prerequisites: All students must be at least 18 years old with basic jewelry metalsmithing skills. Students should have a basic understanding of forging metals using hammers and stakes, drilling, piercing and use of the jeweler’s saw, soldering, sanding, polishing, filing, finishing and rolling mill/roller printing techniques. These skills are taught in our Beginning Level Courses.

Description

For the intermediate to advanced jewelry metalsmith – This course will walk you through the whole design process for your project from start to finish, strengthen your metalsmithing skills and help you problem solve in the studio.

  • Enrolled students will bring three design ideas for their project to the first class. 
  • After discussion each student will choose one for the class project and prepare a plan of action. 
  • Together in class we will prepare an order for materials (paid for in 2nd class).
  • The next five weeks will be studio time to put your plan into action with an instructor close at hand to answer questions that arise. 
  • During the last class we will take photos of your final pieces and have a lessons-learned / critique discussion.
