Description
A five session class once a week designed for the next step in the beginning metalsmith’s curriculum. Improve and increase your basic skills in soldering and metalsmithing with this more advanced class. New techniques will be taught to further advance the beginning student in their progress as a jeweler/metalsmith. Discover new ways of adding texture and finishes to metals by forging and forming using hammers and stakes, as well as patterning by use of the rolling mill and steel stamps. We will also further our skills with hand tools such as the jeweler’s saw, files, pliers, the torch, and the flexshaft. Students will design their own piece, and with the help of the instructor finish the creation by the end of the class schedule. Students 18 yrs or older with Basic Jewelry Metalsmithing or equivalent.
