Description
Silver Reticulation Class
Reticulation is a process of heating and cooling a special 80/20 alloy of Silver and copper sheet until it forms a specific texture. The results are stunning.
In this class students will each use a 2” x 2” piece of 80/20 silver provided in your kit, ready for reticulation. Typically, one starts with a larger sheet and chooses the best area/s of it for use in a jewelry piece. Some holes may form that can be to your advantage for your design. Best to decide what to make after your sheet is done to your satisfaction. A pendant? A pair of earrings? Both? It will be up to your imagination.
Your kit will only be the 80/20 Silver sheet. Sterling Silver square framing wire or ear wire will also be available for purchase from your instructor if needed. The first day, we will do the reticulation process and planning and starting on your earrings and/or pendant. The second day will be the fabrication of your jewelry piece/s and finishing techniques.
Pictured are examples of two pairs of Sterling Silver and 80/20 Reticulated Silver Earrings. Also there is a picture of an advanced project, a unique silver box using the reticulated silver for the lid to give you more ideas how you might use the reticulated silver in the future.
