Description
Copper is an excellent metal for the metalsmith’s art because it can be easily made to bend and shape to the artist’s vision! This workshop will help those with no experience gain an introduction to metal working by bending, forming and texturing one or two copper bracelets. Basic torch skills will be covered as well as use of specialized hammers and patterning stakes for forming metal. The workshop will also cover various methods of color change with patinas, polishing techniques, and work hardening to retain shape of the final piece. Using finish coatings to preserve color will also be covered.
