Textured Copper Bracelets

Plus $10 Material/kit fee payable in cash to the instructor on the first day of class. Additional materials may also be available from the instructor.

This workshop will help those with no experience gain an introduction to metal working by bending, forming and texturing one or two copper bracelets.  Basic torch skills will be covered as well as use of specialized hammers and patterning stakes for forming metal.  Patinas, polishing techniques, work hardening, and finish coatings to preserve color will also be covered. Class size will be reduced to a max of 4 students.

Class Dates & Times: Sunday December 13, 2020, 10am to 5pm.

Requires a Minimum of 2 participants.

Prerequisites: All persons must be at least 18 years old. This is an entry-level/general offering to those wanting to learn a new skill.

Students with torch and soldering skills may work on more complex pieces with less supervision.

Copper is an excellent metal for the metalsmith’s art because it can be easily made to bend and shape to the artist’s vision!  This workshop will help those with no experience gain an introduction to metal working by bending, forming and texturing one or two copper bracelets.  Basic torch skills will be covered as well as use of specialized hammers and patterning stakes for forming metal.  The workshop will also cover various methods of color change with patinas, polishing techniques, and work hardening to retain shape of the final piece.  Using finish coatings to preserve color will also be covered.
