Plus $20 Material/kit fee payable in cash to the instructor on the first day of class. Additional materials may also be available from the instructor.

This beginning class will cover the various wires and wire gauges used to make custom jewelry findings, which tools you will need, how to work safely with wire and form, shape, wrap, hammer, loop, and learn how to “work harden” your wire.

Prerequisites: All persons must be at least 18 years old. This is an entry-level/general offering to those wanting to learn a new skill.

Learn how to make your own ear wires, head pins, hooks, and jump rings using sterling silver wire.
This beginning class will cover the various wires and wire gauges used to make custom jewelry findings, which tools you will need, and how to work safely with wire. You will form, shape, wrap, hammer, loop, and learn how to “work harden” your wire. Once you have learned these basic skills, you will be able to use them to create your own earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. There will be time in this class to make some earrings.

Tool List: (Available at the BMAG Studio or bring your own)

Flat nose pliers, cutters, round nose pliers, small files, wooden dowels, chasing hammer,
rawhide mallet, wire gauge, hammering block or small anvil.
